Wooden, Kreisel Combine For No Hitter; Bearcats Split With Eutectics

St. Louis, Mo. – The SBU softball team traveled to University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy in St. Louis this afternoon for a doubleheader this afternoon. The Bearcats split the doubleheader moving to 6-10 on the season.

In game one, it was a pitching masterpiece between two Bearcat pitchers who combined for a No-Hitter as SBU won 8-0 over the Eutectics. Emma Kreisel started on the mound for the Bearcats pitching three innings recording four strikeouts, not allowing a single hit. In the 4th inning, Shalie Wooden relieved her and continued the streak not allowing a hit as she picked up her first win of the season. The Bearcat bats came alive early in the game as they scored five runs in the first inning. Margo Frossard recorded three hits in the game, while Lexi Detwiler led the team with two RBI's.

In game 2, the Bearcats comeback in the 7th inning was short lived as the Eutectics tied the game and then took the lead in the bottom of the 7th to fall 6-7. Paige Leithead started on the mound pitching 5.2 innings but it was Taylor Howard who relieved her and recorded the loss (1-2). Audrey Rahlmann had a career high with three hits on the game recording one RBI. Frossard, Emma Vincent, Alyssa Reed, Lexi Detwiler, and Rylee Lunn all recorded one RBI on the game.

Southwest Baptist will return to action tomorrow to compete in the Drury Invitational. They will take on old MIAA foe University of Nebraska at Kearney at 12:30pm. Then battle Minnesota Deluth at 4:30pm, all in Springfield.
