Columbia, Mo. – The SBU softball team continued their season this afternoon traveling to Stephens College for a double header. The Bearcats handled the Stars with ease sweeping them in the doubleheader, moving to 4-4 on the season.
In game one, the Bearcats run ruled Stephens College by beating them 10-2 ending the game in the 5
th in.
Paige Leithead started on the mound for the Bearcats getting her first win of the season. She pitched all five innings allowing only two runs and striking out three batters. It was a hitting clinic for the Bearcats as they had four homeruns in the game. Junior
Margo Frossard led the team with two homers recording three RBI's.
Chloee Sams and
Lexi Detwiler each hit a two-run homerun in the game.
In game two,
Emma Kreisel recorded her second win of the season (2-0) as the Bearcats won the game 7-1. Kreisel pitched five innings allowing only one run and recorded six strikeouts. SBU continued their prowess hitting into the second game recording nine total hits. Senior
Alyssa Reed led the team with two hits, while
Grace Stearns led the team with two RBI's.
The SBU softball team will return to action next weekend as they travel to the Washburn Invitational. They will take on four different opponents, beginning on Friday at 10:00am where they will battle University of Sioux Falls in Topeka, Kansas.
