Searcy, Ark. – The SBU Baseball team finished off their first series of the season against the Harding University Bison. Despite falling in both games today, the Bearcat saw significant improvement from a year ago. In only three games last year against the Bison the Bearcats were outscored by 47, this season they were only outscored 24 giving hope for the remainder of the season. 

In game 1 today, the Bearcats started off on the right foot as they scored two runs in the top of the first after junior Conner Hammonds hit a single to right field for senior Tre Mungin and graduate Cayden Shaver to score. Mungin would also hit a double late in the game for junior Zeke Skinner to score for the Bearcats. On the mound was senior Sal Jacobo who pitched for four innings as he recorded 2 strikeouts.  

In game 2, sophomore Jake Fuller started on the mound for the Bearcats as he pitched for five innings recording 5 strikeouts. Skinner would be the lone scorer for the Bearcats as he would run in to score after Cayden Shaver was walked with the bases loaded in the third inning. 

Southwest Baptist will be back in action next week as they travel to Pittsburg, KS to face the Pittsburg State University Gorillas. The first pitch is scheduled for Friday, February 16th at 3:00 PM in the Gene Bicknell Sports Complex.
