Springfield, Mo. – The SBU women's basketball team fell to the Drury Panthers in the Highway 13 Catfight 70-84. That loss moves them to 3-4 (1-1 GLVC) on the season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Bearcats got off to an early lead scoring the first four points of the game
• That lead would extend to 9 by the two minute mark of the 1^st quarter with a 18-9 lead
• Southwest Baptist continued to hold that lead until halfway through the 2^nd quarter
• At the half, the Bearcats trailed Drury 32-36
• An 11-0 run by the Panthers, put the pressure on the Bearcats with a 15 point lead
• Bearcat forward LJ Boyland went to score 10 straight Bearcat points, making it a 12 point game
• The point margin reached single digits a couple more times throughout the game, but the Panthers held on to a double digit win

 
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• LJ Boyland led the team in scoring with an SBU high 23 points
• She shot 57% from the field making seven free throws
• Tori Hamilton recorded a double-double in the first 15 minutes of the game; finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds
• The team continued to show their all-around versatility with 44 bench points, 27 more than Drury
• The Bearcats struggled from beyond the arc only making two of their 20 three-point attempts for 10%; Kristin Edmonds made both three's

The Bearcats will return to action in just a few days as they continue GLVC action at home. They will take on the Truman State Bulldogs in the Meyer Sports Center with a scheduled tipoff of 5:30pm.
