Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU men's basketball winning streak came to an end Thursday evening as the Bearcats fell to the Newman Jets 65-72. That loss sends the Bearcats on Christmas break with a 6-4 overall record.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Jets got off to an early 8-0, before a three by David Hector opened the scoring
• SBU continued to trail until the six minute mark where they took an 18-17 lead
• The lead continued to change six more times before half; Newman led 29-28
• An early 3 in the second half from Drenin Dinkins gave them a two point lead
• Two minutes later the Jets retook the lead and never gave it back.

 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Dinkins led all scorers with 28 points, second most on the season
• He continued his streak from the free throw line going 7-7
• 31 straight made free throws by Dinkins has him at 95% on the season
• Jevin Sullivan and Mitch Ganote each had double figures with 13 & 12 points respectively

The Bearcats will have a long break before returning to action on Friday, January 3^rd. There they will return to action in GLVC play by traveling to Rockhurst University. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30pm.
