Box Score Kansas City, Mo. – The SBU men's basketball team returned to action in the new year as they fell to the Rockhurst Hawks 67-84.They move to 6-5 (3-2 GLVC) on the season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Bearcats struggled early on trailing 2-5 three minutes in
• Rockhurst had 11 unanswered points extending the lead to 14
• SBU continued to trail by as much as 20 in the 1^st half
• A 16-3 run by the Bearcats brought the game to within six at half
• A large part of the run was Drenin Dinkins scoring 16 1^st half points
• The second half did not go the Bearcats way as the Hawks extended lead to as much as 25

 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Drenin Dinkins led all Bearcats in scoring with 21 points
• This included 4-6 from the three-point line and 55% from the floor
• Graduate Mitch Ganote trailed him with 14 points
• Jevin Sullivan led in rebounds with seven to go with nine points
• SBU was stellar from the free throw line going 19-22 for 86.4%

• The Bearcats will return to play next Thursday as they continue their road trip against the Tritons from University of Missouri St. Louis. The game is scheduled for 7:30pm at the Mark Twain Building in St. Louis.
