Bearcats Command the Eagles in 39 Point Win; Eckles Records Career High

Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU men's basketball team defeated the Williams Baptist Eagles with a commanding 93-54 final score. They extend their win streak to three while advancing to 6-3 (3-1 GLVC) on the season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • SBU got off to an early 7-1 lead with three baskets from three different Bearcats
  • The Eagles closed the gap to a 9-8 lead
  • SBU went on an 18-0 run over the coming minutes to lead 27-8
  • Jevin Sullivan contributed largely to lead with numerous monstruous dunks including an alley-oop from freshman Barron Silsby
  • Bearcats continued to extend the lead to as much as 32 in the 1st half before entering the locker room up 54-27
  • They came out of the game strong scoring 11 straight points for a 35-point lead
  • Three minutes into the half Mitch Ganote broke another SBU career record with his 178th steal
  • The lead extended to as much as 40 before ending the game with a final score of 93-54; despite not making a single 3-pointer in the second half
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • 10 different Bearcats made it onto scorer sheet; including four career highs
  • Brandon Eckles recorded his career high of 16 points off an impressive 87.5% from the field
  • Eckles 16 points tied the team high with Jevin Sullivan shooting 78% from the field
  • Barron Silsby notched a career high with 10 points including three assists
  • Drenin Dinkins didn't have a career high in points (12) but did in steals (4)
  • Brandon Moore and Eli Kennedy also had career high in points with 8 & 4 respectively
  • The team shot 52.9% from the field and out rebounded the Eagles by 12
  • With 19 steals on the game, the Bearcats were only two away from tying an SBU single game record
 
UP NEXT
The Bearcats will compete in one final game before Christmas break on Thursday December 19th. They will play host to the Newman Jets of the MIAA Conference with a scheduled tipoff of 7pm.
