Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU men's basketball team greeted the Lincoln Blue Tigers to the GLVC with a 75-56 victory. The Bearcats handed Lincoln their first loss of the season moving SBU over .500 with a 3-2 (1-0 GLVC record).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Aggressive play started early for SBU, as they got off to an early 11-2 lead forcing an LU timeout
- The timeout was called after back-to-back three pointers by Luke Ogle
- Another run in the too distant future gave SBU a 27-11 lead forcing another timeout
- The Blue Tigers brought the lead to within 7 but a 14-0 and a last second three-pointer by Barron Silsby gave SBU a 48-16 lead at half
- The Bearcats came out of the locker room strong extending that lead to 27, the largest of the game
- Despite being outscored in the second half by three, SBU won by 19
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Lincoln entered the game with the best statistical defense in the Nation leading DII in both points allowed per game and FG% defense
- Bearcats knocked the Blue Tiger numbers out of the water shooting 53.1% from the field
- Junior Luke Ogle shined as a Bearcat scoring 19 points, more than he has scored in all four games prior combined
- Ogle shot 87.5% from the field and 80% from beyond the arc
- Mitch Ganote, Drenin Dinkins, and Jevin Sullivan extended their streak of double-digit scoring with 13,10, and 10 points respectively
- Bayley Crawford was second on the team in scored the second most with 14
- Ganote was perfect shooting going 4-4 FG, 1-1 3PT, and 4-4 FT
UP NEXT
Southwest Baptist will now get a day off before taking on rival Drury University. The Bearcats have won six out of the last eight games, including two straight wins in Springfield. This game is scheduled to tip off at 7:45 in the O'Reilly Family Event Center Monday December 2
