Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU women's basketball team defeated the Fighting Indians of Haskell University Thursday evening 87-57. The Bearcats pickup their first victory of the season moving to 1-3 on the year.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Bearcats took an early lead but Haskell's stellar shooting gave them occasional leads
• A late basket from Amber Storr tied the game up at 19 ending the 1^st quarter
• A 13-0 run just minutes into quarter two propelled SBU to a large lead
• They would hold lead heading into half up 46-29
• Continual offensive rebounds and second chance points extended that lead to 24 after three quarters
• SBU finished the game on a run defeating Haskell by 30

 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Senior Amber Storr led all Bearcats in scoring and had an SBU season high with 24 points
• She went 7-11 from the field, 4-5 from three, and a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe
• Tori Hamilton almost had another double-double with 12 points and 9 rebounds, 50% FG percentage
• 10 other Bearcats scored including Odett Schlegl, Bianca Oliver, Sierra Jones, Kristin Edmonds, Eviyon Richardson, LJ Boyland, Carolina Crawford, Khylee Massey, Natalia Crooke, and Nahia Esanola
• As a team, they dominated the glass outrebounding the Fighting Indians 56-29

The Bearcats will play one more non-conference game before beginning GLVC action, starting just over a week from now. On Tuesday, they will host Missouri Baptist Spartans at 5:00pm in the Meyer Sports Center.
