Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU men's basketball team began their season by winning a gritty game against Ozark Christian 84-62. That win in front of their large home crowd moves them to 1-0 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game started out back-and-forth with 6 lead changes in the first four minutes
- SBU took the lead from there and led by at most 15 going into half up 14
- Behind 54.6% shooting from beyond the arc, the Ambassadors cut lead down to five in the 2nd half
- Bearcats prevailed by quickly expanding that lead winning by as 22

- Junior Drenin Dinkins led all Bearcats scoring with 18 points shooting 64% from the floor
- Senior Mitch Ganote returned to the spotlight with 17 points, five assists, five steals, and two rebounds
- Ganote is now five assists away from breaking the SBU career record
- In his first game as a Bearcat, Sophomore Jevin Sullivan scored 13 points with eight rebounds
- Junior Bayley Crawford was all over the stat sheet with 13 points, five rebounds, and three assists
- SBU outrebounded the Ambassadors 39-28
- Bearcats scored 42 points in the paint and had 28 bench points

Southwest Baptist will now hit the road six days from now as they drive to Joplin, Missouri taking on former MIAA foe Missouri Southern. Tip off for the game will happen at 6:00pm at the Gibson Arena.
