Springfield, Mo. – The SBU women's basketball team began their season Saturday evening as they fell to Ferris State 75-82. The Bulldogs are ranked #15 in the Nation and moved the Bearcats to 0-1 on the season.
How it Happened
- The Bearcats took an early lead behind two three pointers from Odett Schlegl and five points from Tori Hamilton, 11-6
- A 9-0 run from the Bulldogs put them in the lead for the rest of the game
- SBU trailed by 21 points with 5:35 left in the game
- Bearcats showed resilience by making a 4-point game with 1:30 left in the 4th quarter
- Junior Kristin Edmonds made this possible by making four 3-pointers in that time span

- Schlegl led all Bearcats with 18 points shooting 54.5% from the field; also recorded seven rebounds, three assists, five three-pointers, and two blocks
- Edmonds led all members off the bench with 16 points
- Newcomer Amber Storr, and senior Tori Hamilton each scored double digit points
- Coming off a year where SBU women's basketball was 4th in the Nation in bench points, they continued to excel with 27 to Ferris State six
