Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU football team fell to the William Jewell Cardinals 27-28 at Plaster Stadium. That moves the team to 2-6 (1-4 GLVC) on the season.
It was a back-and-forth game that went down to the final play as the Bearcats were set up for a game winning field goal from All-American
Logan Turner. It was 25-yard field goal with two seconds remaining on the clock, the kick looked up the middle but was blocked by the Cardinals as time expired.
Freshman quarterback
Sal Caldarella had a career high 294 yards passing to go along with his two passing touchdowns. His top target was senior
Jordan Kent who was 9 yards away from setting a new SBU single game high with 220 receiving yards. His six receptions included one touchdown reception for 71 yards averaging 36.7 yards per reception. Kent's 220 yards was second most by any SBU wide receiver in school history. Senior
JaQuan Dorsey recorded his first touchdown of the season with a 22-yard catch.
Defensively SBU redshirt freshman
Jahaad Fort recorded 10 total tackles with eight solo, including two breakups and one quarterback hurry. Tying him in tackles was
Josh Johnson who had 10 total, three solo, and a QB hurry.
Levi Korir added another interception to his season with a 21 yard return on his pick.
SBU football will hit the road next week as they travel to Nationally ranked Indianapolis. The game will take place at Key Stadium with a start time of 5:00pm.
