Hammond, Ind. – The Bearcat women's volleyball wrapped up their Midwest Region Crossover Saturday morning as they took on Malone University. It was a quick and easy match for the Bearcats as they swept the Pioneers 3-0, with the first set going 25-9 in SBU's favor. The 3-0 weekend moves them to 11-12 on the season.
The first set was dominated by the Bearcats with very few things going wrong winning 25-9. The team had a .379 hitting percentage with 13 of their 25 points coming from kills. The next two sets were much closer but the Bearcats still prevailed pulling off the second sweep of the weekend.
Senior
Janel Pido tied her season and career high with five serving aces on the game moving her season total to 39. With those five aces she moves into 3
rd all time in SBU career aces with 119. Sophomore middle blockers
Chandler Lawrence and
Rory Stanley combined for six kills but neither had any errors for over .300 hitting percentage each.
Ella Rademaker led the team in kills again with 11, extending her double-digit kill streak to 19.
The Bearcats will look to carry this momentum into the home stretch of conference play. It will start with some difficulty as they travel to Illinois to take on Quincy University Friday, October 25
th. Southwest Baptist fell to the Hawks in five sets last year and will look to close out a win this year beginning at 6pm in Quincy, Illinois.
