Men's Soccer Outshoot Hawks but Fall Short by a Goal

Quincy, Ill. – The SBU men's soccer continued their season Friday evening as they traveled to Quincy University. The Bearcats fell to the Hawks in an even game 0-1, moving to 2-7-3 (1-6-1 GLVC) on the season.

The Bearcats were put on the back foot in the first half getting out shot 3-8, with a goal sneaking past the Bearcat keeper in the 35th minute. Southwest Baptist came out with fire in the second half outshooting the Hawks 13-3. They were unable to find the back of the net largely due to the Hawks keeper seven saves.

Senior Callum Bisset recorded a team high two shots on goal with Iker Lorenzo, Okikiola Ojeniyi, Edgar Piña Alvarez, Julius Tabe, Vincent Rotich, and Dylan Gorman each with a shot on goal. Five Bearcat field players played a full 90 minutes in Bisset, Victor Valero, Giovanni Cascone, Emilio Linares, and Alvarez. Junior goalkeeper Marco Iñiguez added five saves to his season total.

SBU will end their road trio on Sunday as they head further north to the distant land of Fayette, Iowa. They will take on the Upper Iowa Peacocks with a kickoff scheduled for 2:30pm.
