Stephenville, TX - The SBU Football team traveled down to Texas this weekend to face D1 Tarleton State University for their last non-conference game. The Bearcats put up a good fight but would fall in the end to the Texans making them 1-3 (0-0 GLVC) on the season.
The Texans would strike first as they would score a rushing touchdown in the first quarter. Junior Logan Turner would score 2 field goals in the second quarter, making him one field goal away from breaking the career field goal record at SBU, to bring the score to 6-7 before the half. In the second half, the Texans would score first with 2 field goals and a touchdown before senior Abel Carter would run the ball into the endzone, keeping the Bearcats in the game. Unfortunately, it would not be enough as the Texans would score one last time before the final whistle.
Junior Collin Sutton led the Bearcat offense with 20 completed passes for a total of 202 yards, with junior Regan Wilson being his number one target with 8 catches for 99 yards. The Bearcats defense who stayed strong throughout the game would have 57 tackles in the game with senior Jeremiah Scroggins leading the Bearcats with 9 total and 6 solo.
Southwest Baptist will be back in action on Friday at 1:00 PM as they kickoff conference play on the road against the Quincy University Hawks.
