Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU women's basketball team had their home opener this evening as they hosted the Missouri Baptist Spartans. The Bearcats never trailed throughout the entirety of the game and came out with a 72-51 win. Head Coach Wyketha Harrell collects her first win of her head coaching career moving her team to 1-2 on the season.
"This win is big for us and not just because it's a win but it's the first one. It's the one that says all you've been working for has been for a reason and we are just getting started! We have to stay locked in and committed to the process and let the rest take care of itself!" -Harrell Said.
Senior
Kallyn Stumbo had a career day recording her first ever double-double. She had career highs in both points (19) and rebounds (12) to go along with her five assists and three steals. Stumbo went 7-9 from the field and 5-6 from the charity stripe. Junior
Tori Hamilton returned to full form recording 10 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Junior
Jayde Williams also had a career high in points with 13 with two three-pointers made.
It will be an early conference battle for the Bearcats as they head to Illinois-Springfield for their first GLVC game of the year. They will take on the Prairie Stars in The Recreation and Athletic Center Saturday, November 18
th at 5:30pm. The Bearcats have won the last three matchups over Illinois-Springfield.
