Springfield, Ill. - The SBU women's soccer team continued their GLVC stretch this evening as they took on the Prairie Stars of Illinois-Springfield. The Bearcats extended their unbeaten streak to three games by tying the Prairie Stars 2-2. They move to 3-6-3 (1-4-2 GLVC) on the season.
The Bearcats opened the scoring in the 8th minute off a spectacular goal from sophomore Tamerra Gantt. She recorded her fourth goal of the season leading all Bearcats. As well she has 10 total points also leading the team.
After conceding two straight goals the Bearcats were on the brink of falling to Illinois-Springfield. It wasn't until the 83rd minute when freshman Annabelle Shuler sent the ball into the back of the net knotting the game up at two. That tie gave the Bearcats their 5th point towards the conference standings.
They will return to action on Sunday as they continue their road stretch against Quincy University. The game is scheduled to take place at 12:00 PM.
