Bolivar, Mo. - The SBU Volleyball team was back in action today as they hosted the #24 team in the country, Quincy University. The Bearcats would put up a great fight, forcing a fifth set but would unfortunately come up short as the Hawks would win 3-2 making the Bearcats 12-11 (2-6 GLVC) on the season.
The Bearcats would start off slow as the Hawks would capitalize and run away with the first set. In the second set, the Bearcats finally found their rhythm as they would come back from being down 11-16 to finish the set 25-21. The Bearcats would go down in the third set but would make up for it in the fourth set as they would go point for point with the Hawks before winning the set 26-24. The fifth set would start off similar to the fourth set but the Bearcats would not be able to maintain their rhythm as the Hawks would pull away, winning the game 3-2.
Sophomore Ella Rademaker would lead the Bearcats with 20 kills followed by senior Loran Pritchett who would have 10 kills herself. Freshman Rory Stanley would also contribute to the Bearcats attack as she would have 9 kills while junior Deryan Simpson would set a career-high with 8 kills against the Hawks.
Southwest Baptist will take a break from GLVC action as they host the Baptist Bible College Patriots. The game is set to start at 6:00 PM at the Meyer Sports Center
