Bolivar, Mo. - The SBU volleyball team returned home this evening for GLVC match against the Illinois-Springfield Prairie Stars. The Bearcats came out on top of another thriller home matchup, winning in the fourth set 3-1. They move to 12-10 (2-5 GLVC) on the season collecting their fourth straight win, for the first time since 2021.
After a rough first set, the Bearcats were on the brink of being down 0-2 but suddenly caught fire. They trailed 18-24 until they went on a 8-0 run, winning the set 26-24, tying the match. That 8-0 run was full of Bearcats making diving saves, incredible kills, and stellar blocks. SBU would use that momentum to win the next two sets collecting their 12th win of the year.
Sophomore Katie Pogue had a career game with a near triple-double for 14 kills, 20 assists, 9 digs, 3 assisted blocks, and one ace. That ace came at the perfect time as it was the final point in the match, clinching the victory for the Bearcats. Freshman Rory Stanley also had an impressive game with five total kills, two solo blocks, and five assisted blocks. Sophomore Ella Rademaker led the team in kills again with 15 total kills.
Southwest Baptist returns to play tomorrow as they host the #24 team in the Nation in Quincy University. The game is scheduled to take place at the Meyer Sports Center at 3pm.
