Springfield, Mo. - The SBU women's soccer team took on their highway 13 rival in Drury University this afternoon. The Bearcats battled hard but were unable to put up any goals in a 0-2 loss to the Panthers. They now move to 3-8-3 (1-6-2 GLVC) on the season.
Senior Ashlynn Edison reached a career mark in this game of 200 career saves. Her nine during this match brought her to 203, currently holding her in 5th all-time in SBU history.
Offensively the Bearcats had numerous chances to get past the Panther defense, but were unable to strike one past the best defense in the conference. SBU's best chance came from sophomore Tamerra Gantt who snuck one past the goalkeeper but dinked off the side off the post just before crossing the line.
SBU will return to play next Friday as they host the William Jewll Cardinals on Senior Day. Six seniors are scheduled to be recognized just before the 4 pm kickoff at the SBU soccer field.
