Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU women's basketball returned to conference play this afternoon as they took on Lewis University. The Bearcats winning streak came to an end as they fell to the Flyers 49-77. That moves them to 7-7 (1-5 GLVC) on the season.
I was just not happy with our offensive execution today either." Head Coach
Kelsey Keizer said, "We didn't shoot the ball well which doesn't help but I felt like we allowed the fact that we didn't shoot the ball well to take a lot of things away from us that didn't need to be taken away from us. We still could have rebounded hard, we still could have gotten to the free throw line more often, we still could have played a lot better defense…We tell our players not to panic, but we have to be tougher in those moments where the shots aren't falling."
Junior Tori Hamilton led the team in points with a career high 16 points and notched her second double-double of the season with 11 boards. She scored her 16 points shooting 80% from the field.
Karlee Holland also had a strong game scoring 12 points making two and buckets.
The Bearcats will return to action next Thursday, January 12th as they begin a three-game road trip. They will take on the Illinois-Springfield Prairie Stars with a scheduled tipoff of 5:30 PM.
