Bolivar, Mo.- The SBU volleyball team took on MIAA foe in the Meyer Wellness Center this evening. The Bearcats extended their winning streak to three by sweeping the Lions in three sets. That moves them to 6-5 on the season.

James Hanger, "It's an exciting time to see the team compete for every point and enjoy playing the game together."

Both teams matched up evenly in the first set, but the Bearcats prevailed winning 27-25. They wouldn't be tested again throughout the rest of the match winning the next two sets 25-16 and 25-17.

Junior
Ashley Lasher led the team in kills for the third straight game with 12 tonight. Junior
Loran Pritchett helped all around with 8 kills, 21 assists, 2 aces, and 20 digs. Sophomore and libero
Aleena Peterson recorded a career high 2 kills in tonight's game along with 18 digs, 2 aces, and 7 assists.

"Today's win signifies the teams hard work during preseason." Said Peterson, "Without being challenged by the coaches, we would not be where we are now. This win today has marked the best pre-conference record since 2014. We accomplished this by having commitment, perseverance, and overall, having a passion for the game. We enjoy having fun on the court and working hard! This group of girls is truly a blessing!"

The Bearcats begin conference play this Friday on their own home court as they take on William Jewell. The match is scheduled for this Friday, September 16
th at 6:00 PM.
