Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU volleyball team took on the Southern Nazarene Storm in the Meyer Wellness Center this afternoon. It was a battle all the way through, but the Bearcats prevailed winning in the 5
th set and taking down the match 3-2.
The first two sets were as evenly matched as a set could be without going over 25 points, as they each won a set 25-23. The Bearcats took advantage in the third set winning 25-20 but lost set four to force a 5
th set. Six straight points from SBU put them ahead 9-5 in the last set and they never looked back from there.
Three different Bearcats reached double digits in kills in
Ashley Lasher,
Loran Pritchett, and
Deryan Simpson. Freshman
Bailey Lasater led the team in assists and had her third straight game of 20+ assists. Pritchett was solid across the board with 17 kills, 16 assists, 13 digs, 1 serving ace, and 4 blocking assists.
Southwest Baptist will be back in action this upcoming Tuesday, September 13
th as they take on old MIAA foe Missouri Southern. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
