Talhequah, Okla.- The SBU Women's soccer team had their third straight road match this evening against the Northeastern State Riverhawks. The Bearcats fell in the game 0-1 moving to 0-2-1 on the season.
"We played very well and fought very hard. We had chances to score." Head Coach
Stefan Skillman said, "Our girls did a great job being organized and played very well. I am very proud of their work rate."
It was a defensive battle with only a few shots on goal until the final minutes of the game where the Riverhawks ended that tie. Two Bearcat Sophomores stepped up big tonight in packing the defense, keeping it a tight game.
Kendal Weiskopf from St. Louis, MO and
Abby Youngblood also from St. Louis, MO both played the fully 90 minutes at the center back position.
"It was a really exciting and fun game to play in. We had a lot of good opportunities throughout the game and I am really looking forward to continuing this energy and play in to the season," Weiskopf said.
The Bearcats return home on Sunday, September 4
th to play host to Northern State University. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 PM on the SBU Soccer Field.
