Searcy, Arkansas.- The SBU women's soccer team kicked off their season today as they took on Harding University on the road. Both teams were evenly matched throughout which caused the game to end in a 1-1 tie. That puts the Bearcats at a 0-0-1 record.
It only took 17 minutes and 46 seconds for the Bearcats to get on the board in 2022.
Sam Short scored the first goal of her college career in just her first game as a freshman. That goal was assisted by both
Abbey Klund and
Julia Johnson after an impressive series of passes.
"I was so excited after scoring my first collegiate goal and getting to celebrate that moment with my teammates cheering for me, will be a memory that I will never forget" -Said Short.
Goalkeeper
Ashlynn Edison returned between the pipes after missing a year from injury. Her return kept the Bearcats to a tie making six saves on the day.
Southwest Baptist will play next in Arkadelphia, Arkansas as they take on Ouachita Baptist this Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
