Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. - The SBU Volleyball team began their 2022 campaign today in the Eagle classic at Oklahoma Christian University. The Bearcats lost both matches on the day to move to 0-2 on the season.

Their first match of the day was against the defending GAC tournament champions of Arkansas Tech. SBU started out strong taking down the first set in impressive fashion, 25-15. The Golden Eagles struck back winning the next three sets.

In game 2 of the day, the Bearcats took on the Westminster College (Utah) Griffins. Both teams went back and forth in sets 1 and 2 but the Griffins won both by a score of 22-25. SBU fought back in the third set and won 25-23 forcing a fourth. They were unable to complete the comeback as they lost set four, 20-25.

Sophomore
Azalea Clendenning started the season out strong leading the team in kills on the day with 29 total. She also had a career high 19 kills in game 2 against Westminster.

The Bearcats return to action tomorrow August 26
th in day 2 of the Eagle Classic. At 1:00pm they will take on the hosts Oklahoma Christian. At 5:30 they will battle old MIAA foe Fort Hays State; their first matchup since October 12
th 2018.
