Bolivar, Mo- The SBU women's tennis team competed in the regional finals today against Grand Valley State. The Bearcats won the match 4-2 to advance to the NCAA tennis Sweet 16 for the first time since 2016.
 
The Bearcats came back in the doubles point with Diana Cabrera/Paula Ballesteros and Ghada Dirninger/Elsa Pascual winning their matches. Cabrera won all 12 points against her opponent to claim the Bearcats 2^nd point. Lola Cincunegui won shortly after to bring them within the clinching point. Giselle Garcia won her first set and fell in the second but clinched the victory for the Bearcats in the third with a 6-3 victory.
 
The SBU women's tennis team next match will be in two weeks against an undetermined opponent.
