Bearcats Win Game One 7-4, Fall in Game Two 5-0

Brock Wilken homered twice for the Bearcats to lead the team to its first victory of the season over Purdue University Northwest. The Bearcats recorded the first run of the game in the 1st when
Jake Whittle walked, advanced to second on a balk, and scored on a
Rhys Cratty double. Wilken hit his first homerun of the year, a solo shot, in the 2nd and followed in the 4th with a 2-run homerun, also scoring
Colby Sneed who walked. The Bearcats plated two more runs in the 6th to secure the 7-4 win. On the mound, Khalil Vazquez Torres went 3.1 innings giving up 3 earned runs.
Matt Scott followed with 2 innings and one earned run.
Logan Sorrell received his first save of the year by pitching a scoreless 7th.Â
Brennan Espy got his first start on the mound for the Bearcats in game two. He pitched three quick innings giving up one earned run in the 4th. Unfortunately an error in the 4th led to two earned runs and the Bearcats eventually fell 5-0. The Pride pitching staff shut out the Bearcats allowing only two hits.Â
The Bearcats return to action at 5:00 pm on Saturday, March 45.
