Bearcats Unable to Overcome Cougars Hot Hitting

After giving up three runs in the top of the 1^st, the Bearcats battled back and recorded three runs of their own in the bottom of the 1^st. Colby Sneed led off the inning with a single, followed by a single by Rhys Cratty. Two batters later, Brock Wilken doubled to bring in Sneed and Cratty. Brooks Espy then singled and Wilken scored on a passed ball. Unfortunately, those were the only three runs of the game as the Cougars pitching staff pitched six innings of shutout ball.

The Bearcats had their best pitching performance in game 2. Freshman Khalil V'azquez Torres went 5.1 innings and gave up four earned runs. Junior Matt Scott also had a strong performance on the mound as he pitched two innings and gave up one earned run. On the offense, Rhys Cratty, Colby Sneed, and Joe Wade each recorded two hits. Cratty led off the bottom of the first with his second homerun of the year while Brennan Espy also recorded an RBI for the Bearcats. 
 
"Sioux Falls got us at the right time. We started 11 true freshman and starters. Two of our top pitchers are out and one of our top infielders is out. It was a great experience for our young guys to get game reps. In two months this would have been a different series. I told our guys I wouldn't buy stock in the results this weekend-we will be much better going forward, " Coach Chris Martin.

Khalil Vazquez Torres went 5 1/3 for his first career start
Matt Scott pitched 2 innings in relief and gave up one earned run
Rhys Cratty hit his second homerun and recorded two hits
 
The Bearcats return to action this weekend as they host Winona State.
