Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU men's basketball team took on the undefeated University of Missouri St. Louis Tritons this evening. It was a close battle the whole way, but the Bearcats suffered their first loss of the season falling 65-70. That moves them to 5-1 (1-1 GLVC) on the season.
"I thought our guys showed a lot of competitive spirit by getting back into the game. We trailed the whole game." Head Coach
Clark Sheehy said, "I was really proud of we kept competing and kept hanging in there and gave ourselves a chance under two minutes with the ball. I thought there were some real positive things."
The junior
RJ Crawford had another strong game for the Bearcats scoring 19 points and pulling down seven rebounds. He shot an impressive 3-4 from beyond the arc for 75%. Senior
Mitch Ganote had his first double-double of the season scoring 15 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. He also dished out a game high six assists.
The Bearcats will return to action this Thursday as they travel to Maryville University for their first road game of the season. They will take on the 6-2 Saints with a tip-off scheduled for 7:30 PM.
