Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU Men's basketball team played in their home opener this evening against Ozark Christian. The Bearcats continued their win streak as they took down the Ambassadors 88-60. That win moves them to 3-0 on the season.
"I think we were a little bit anxious at the beginning of the game, excited to play in front of our students and our families." Head Coach
Clark Sheehy said, "we scored right out of the gate so quick, that it was a little bit misleading, we thought we would do that the rest of the game…But I thought our guys had a pretty good composure and I thought once we settled in and had some good offensive possessions."
The Bearcats were led in scoring by sophomore
Drew McMillin who scored his career high 20 points. He went 8 for 12 from the field and 4 for 8 from the three-point line. He also had five rebounds, two steals, and two assists.
"He has had a great Spring and a great Fall." Sheehy said, "there has been days where, in what we are doing, he has just been really really good. He didn't play great in Tennessee, but we just said you have had too many days where you are really really good in practice and preparation to know that it is coming. It was not a surprise to anybody that he played well."
SBU will play in one more non-conference game before conference play begins. Next Monday November 21
st, they will take on Ecclesia college at home with a tipoff scheduled for 7:00 PM.
