Evansville, Indiana- The SBU Women's Basketball team ended their two-game road trip against University of Southern Indiana this afternoon. Teams fought back and forth the whole game but the Bearcats fell by a score of 74-79. After the loss, the Bearcats move to 8-6 (3-3 GLVC) on the season.
Southern Indiana got off to an early 13-point lead, but the Bearcats brought it back to within six to conclude the first quarter. A 21 point 2
nd quarter and a buzzer beating jumper by
Faith Gilkey gave the Bearcats a 43-41 lead heading into the locker room.
SBU held the lead for a majority of the third quarter but the Screaming Eagles knotted it up at 61 heading into the final 10 minutes. The Screaming Eagles went on an 11-0 run to start out the fourth quarter. A late run by the Bearcats brought it to within three but ended up falling 74-79.
Kyleigh Vaught led the team in scoring with 25 points.
Mary Rose Foster and
Nyah Pettus were the only two other Bearcats in double digits, each with 13. The Women's Basketball team will be back in Bolivar this Thursday January 13
th as they take on the Rockhurst Hawks. Tip off is scheduled 5:30pm.
