Bolivar, MO- The SBU Women's Basketball team were back home tonight as they took on divisional opponent, the Rockhurst Hawks. Bearcats scored the first two points then never led after that point and fell by a final score of 56-69. That loss moves SBU to 8-7 (3-4 GLVC) on the season.
Â
Nyah Pettus led the way for the Bearcats with 17 points. She also snagged down 10 rebounds to record her first career double-double. Head coach
Kelsey Keizer had this to say about Pettus.
Â
"Something we have been really pushing her towards, to get to that double-double stance on a consistent basis, so proud that she was able to contribute that tonight, just didn't get enough help in other places and pieces that we usually do"
Â
The SBU Bearcats will get Saturday off compared to the rest of the GLVC but will travel to William Jewell on Monday January 17
th. Tip-off is schedule for 5:30 PM. They beat them at home 65-35 back in November. Despite that, Coach Keizer is focusing on improving.
Â
"We have to get a lot tougher, after tonight's game we have to bounce back on toughness, defensive intensity, rebounding and then be able to transition that into good offense. It's going to be all about us, we are going to focus a lot on things we need to fix, we need to change, and we just need to be tougher."
