Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | David McFeely

Whole Team Effort Leads Bearcats Past the Miners

Bolivar, MO- The SBU Women's basketball team traveled to Rolla, Missouri tonight to take on the Missouri S&T Miners. A whole team effort led the Bearcats toa 79-68 victory on the road. This win puts the team at 10-7 (5-4 GLVC.)

As a team, the Bearcats went 27-59 (45.8%) from the field and 7-14 (50%) from beyond the arc. They had 20 assists to go along with their 27 field goals.

"Absolutely loved the way our team moved the ball today and the way they cut to the open spot on the floor. Kelsey and Kallyn both got easy buckets around the paint this way. Additionally, Micah and Mary Rose knocked down the mid-range jump shots for us and it was extremely encouraging to see Emma get back into her shooting rhythm. I'm so proud of how this team stuck together and got the win on the road" said head coach Kelsey Keizer.

After being GLVC Player of the Week, Kyleigh Vaught had a tough couple of games but bounced back tonight and led the team in scoring, tying her season high with 25 points.

"Kyleigh is the ultimate competitor, and I am so proud of how she led our team today. She started the game hot for us while getting her teammates going as well. She has had some great practices this week and it was fun to watch her make some special plays today."

Mary Rose Foster was another shining player for the Bearcats tonight, anchoring the defense and recording her first career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds

"Mary Rose loves a challenge and she's been looking forward to this matchup. We were thankful to keep her out of foul trouble and really have her anchor our defense tonight. I challenged her to finish some of those offensive rebounds in the paint and she did just that in the second half."
