Bolivar, Mo. - The SBU Women's Soccer hosted former MIAA opponent Northeastern State for their home opener Thursday evening. The game finished with a tie, battling with the Riverhawks in double overtime. With the tie match, the Bearcats record will move to 0-1-1 (0-0 GLVC) for the season.
Within the first 48 minutes, the Bearcats started to take shots with the help of
Allyson Leiber,
Lexi Lanzafame, Madsion Eads, Reagan Edwards, and Isabel Schellhammer. The Bearcats moved the ball effectively down the field and helped assist their teammates with shots. After 90 minutes was up, the game was forced into overtime. In overtime, Racheal Woekcki and
Mei Li O'Neil both put shots on goal, but couldn't find the back of the net. With neither team able to break the 0-0 score, the game came ended in a tie. Ail Harrington was solid in goal, making 7 saves for the Bearcats.
The team will begin conference play in their next contest, as they travel to Liberty, MO to face off against William Jewell College on September 12 at 12:00 PM.
