Bolivar, Mo. – The SBU Volleyball team played at home for the first time this fall, opening GLVC play with a Highway 13 matchup. In the hard fought match, Drury came out on top 3-1, dropping SBU to 4-5 (0-1 GLVC).
Every set was back and forth, but the first set went to the visitors, 25-22. SBU found themselves down 12-9 in the second set, but scored 7 straight points to take a 16-12 lead. Drury regained the lead and had the set at 24-22 but the Bearcats scored four straight to take the set 26-24 and even the score at 1-1. The third set was another close one, ending 25-20 in favor of the Panthers. SBU was behind 24-23 in the fourth set and rallied back to take a 25-24 lead, but Drury held on and won the fourth set 27-25 to take the match 3-1.
Rachel Francis led both teams with 17 kills on the night.
Ashley Lasher also recorded 10 kills in the loss.
Loran Pritchett finished with another double-double, collecting 41 assists (match high) and 16 digs.
Aleena Peterson also had 16 digs.
The team remains at home for their next matchup, hosting the Greyhounds of Indianapolis on Saturday, September 18 at 3:00 PM.
