Romeoville, Ill. – The SBU women's tennis team advanced to the GLVC Finals Sunday afternoon, facing off against the #1 nationally ranked Indianapolis Greyhounds. Despite the tough battle, the Bearcats fell to the Greyhounds in the championship, 4-0.
UINDY claimed the first doubles point on court 3 with a 6-1 victory, and took a 1-0 lead after winning a very tight match on court 1, 7-5. The first singles match to conclude was court 4, where the Greyhounds won the match 6-2, 6-1. They took a 3-0 lead with another victory on court 1, 6-2, 6-0, and won the championship with a tightly contested 6-2, 6-4 match on court 2.
The 2021 spring season marked the team's first full season as members of the Great Lakes Valley Conference. They made the move in the 2019-20 school year, but the spring season was cut short due to COVID. The NCAA DII women's tennis selection show will be on Tuesday, May 4 at 7:30 PM.
