Bolivar, Mo. – Southwest Baptist couldn't pull off the season sweep of Maryville and dropped the midweek doubleheader by scores of 5-4 and 13-2. This makes the Bearcats record .500 at 10-10 (7-9 GLVC) for the season.
Game One
Southwest Baptist got on the board first when
Sam Avila hit a double to deep right center that drove in
Josh Scott and
Colby Sneed. Maryville would retake the lead in the 6
th inning with a homerun. The Bearcats got a rally going in the bottom of the 7
th inning when
Zack Ehlen got on base with a single and
Colby Sneed followed him up with a deep bomb to left center to make it 5-4.
Drew Wagner pitched a gem with 6 innings pitched and striking out 5 batters.
David Tongue came on in relief for one inning and struck out 2 of the three batters he faced.
Colby Sneed,
Sam Avila, and
Rhys Cratty each had 2 hits for the Bearcats with Sneed having the biggest in the 2-run homerun. Avila also had the two other runs driven in.
Game Two
The second game didn't quite go in the Bearcats favor with the Saints scoring 7 runs in the first three innings.
Timothy Glenn came on in relief for the Bearcats in the 2
nd inning and pitched 3 full innings and only allowed 2 hits.
Josh Scott drove in the Bearcats first run of the game in the bottom of the first and
Blake Ford scored the other run in the 2
nd inning when he hit a homerun.
Blake Ford had the biggest hit for the Bearcats along with
Andrew Jones reaching base as a pinch hitter in the 7
th inning.
Jackson Soule also had 1 hit along with drawing 2 walks.
The Bearcats will be back in action at home on April 9-11 when they host Quincy for a four game series.
