Romeoville, Ill. – The 2021 GLVC Tennis Championships began Friday morning, as SBU took on the Lewis Flyers in the Quarterfinal Round. SBU handled Lewis well, defeating the Flyers in a 5-0 decisive manner.
 
The doubles team of Lola Cincunegui and Diana Cabrera had a quick match on court 3, winning 6-0. Elsa Pascual and Catarina Zheng followed with a strong 6-2 victory on court 2, sealing the doubles point.
 
Constanca Crespo was the first to finish singles play, defeating her opponent 6-4, 6-1 to take a 2-0 lead. The third point of the match was won by Elsa Pascual, taking court 5 by scores of 6-1, 6-2. Clinching the match was Lola Cincunegui, downing her opponent 7-5, 6-1 on court 6 for the fourth point. Dona Abohabaga finished shortly after on court 1, 6-2, 6-3 to make the final score 5-0.
 
With the win, the team advances to the Semi-Final Round where they will face Drury. That match will take place on Saturday, May 1 at 9:00 AM.
