Romeoville, Ill. - The 2021 GLVC Tennis Championships began Friday morning, as SBU took on the McKendree Bearcats in the Quarterfinal Round. SBU handled McKendree well, defeating the Bearcats in a 4-0 decisive manner.
 
Alvaro Nunez and David Szeri kicked off doubles play with a 6-1 victory on court 3. Max Sanoja and Carlos Corser claimed the doubles point for SBU thanks to their 6-3 win on court 1.
 
Transferring his strong play to singles, Carlos Corser won his match on court 2 by scores of 6-2, 6-2 to gain the second point for SBU. The recently announced GLVC Player of the Year in Adham Gaber followed with another dominating victory, winning court 1 6-4, 6-0. Winning the 4^th and final point for SBU was David Szeri, downing his opponent 6-3, 6-4 on court 4 to seal the win.
 
With the win, the team advances to the Semi-Final Round where they'll face the Missouri-St. Louis Tritons. That match will take place on Saturday, May 1 at 12:00 PM.
