Springfield, Mo. – The SBU teams were competing just south of Bolivar against their Highway 13 rivals, Drury. The women's team had no problems with the Panthers, downing them by a score of 5-2. SBU improves to 10-5 on the season thanks to the win.
Dona Abohabaga and
Elsa Pascual started things off with a 6-3 win on court 2, but Drury responded with the tight win on court 1. Coming up clutch to take the doubles point,
Diana Cabrera and
Lola Cincunegui defeated their opponents 6-3 on court 3 to take a 1-0 lead.
Constanca Crespo was the first to finish singles play, winning 6-4, 6-2 on court 3. Drury answered with a win on court 2, but
Diana Cabrera helped get SBU back on track with a 6-1, 6-4 victory on court 1. The match-winning point came from
Catarina Zheng's 6-4, 6-4 win on court 4, but
Elsa Pascual gave SBU another point on court 5. After the match had been decided, Drury picked up a tight win on court 6, making the final score 5-2 in favor of SBU.
The team will be back at home on Monday, April 5 as they host Lindenwood for a 1:00 PM start time.
