Bolivar, Mo. – Missouri-St. Louis visited Bolivar Sunday afternoon, taking on the SBU Tennis teams in a rescheduled match that was originally set to take place on Friday, April 16. The men's team defeated the Tritons 4-1 to improve to 13-8 and a perfect 4-0 in the GLVC West Division.
David Szeri and
Alvaro Nunez made quick work of their opponents on court 3, winning 6-2. An identical score was recorded on court 2, as
Adham Gaber and
Youssef Nabil helped seal the doubles point. Court 1 was won by
Max Sanoja and
Carlos Corser, winning the exciting match 7-6.
UMSL tied the score at 1-1 with a victory on court 3, but SBU regained the lead not long after.
Adham Gaber, the #7 ranked singles player in the nation, defeated his opponent in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, to put SBU up 2-1.
Carlos Corser fell 2-6 in his first set, but went on to win 6-2, 6-2 in the final two sets to get the win on court 2. Capping off the match was
David Szeri, downing his opponent 6-2, 6-2 to claim the fourth and final point for SBU.
One regular season match remains for the men's team. They will host Quincy University on Friday, April 23 at 2:00 PM.
