Kirksville, Mo. – Southwest Baptist came back to split the series with Truman State after a 16-14 victory in game four. This makes the Bearcats record 13-15 (9-14 GLVC) for the season.
Truman State jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after one frame, but the Bearcats responded with 3 runs in the second to reclaim the lead. Southwest Baptist tied it up at 5 in the 4
th inning and
Josh Scott singled up the middle to drive in two more to give them a lead that wouldn't be surrendered the rest of the game.
Rhys Cratty would hit a double in the 5
th to drive in
Colby Sneed and would late cross home after
Josh Scott hit a deep blast to left field to extend the Bearcat lead to 12-5. The Bearcats would plate 3 more in the 7
th and a final run in the 9
th to pull out the win 16-14.
Josh Scott and
Rhys Cratty led the Bearcats at the plate with 4 hits each and Cratty scoring 3 runs while Scott drove in 5 more himself.
Evan Turnquist had two hits and drew a walk to score 4 runs for the cause.
Southwest Baptist will be back in action when they host Illinois Springfield for a 4-game weekend series.
