Evansville, Ind. – The Bearcats dropped a pair on the road to Southern Indiana by scores of 6-0 and 19-0 to make their record 2-30 (1-17 GLVC) on the season.
Game One
Kaitlyn Bagby got the Bearcats going in the hit column in the first inning with a single through the left side. The Bearcats would threaten in the 2
nd inning when they had
Abby Henson at second and
Nicole Horstman on first but couldn't piece anything together to get them home. USI would respond with 2 in the bottom half of the 2
nd and then plate three more in the 5
th inning.
Renae Gillmore would give the Bearcats hope in the 7
th with a two-out single but couldn't get across to score. The Bearcats had 6 hits for the game with each hit coming from a different player.
Reilly Rupert pitched the complete 6 innings for the Bearcats while allowing 7 hits.
Game Two
Southwest Baptist got a runner on in the first to start the game when
Nicole Horstman drew a two-out walk. Southern Indiana did their damage in the 2
nd, 3
rd, and 4
th innings to account for all their runs.
Renae Gillmore broke through for the Bearcats first hit in the 3
rd inning when she singled to right field and
Nicole Horstman drew a walk to load the bases but couldn't find a run in the inning.
Kaitlyn Bagby reached base in the 4
th as well on a single and
Renae Gillmore got her second hit of the game in the 5
th inning with a single up the middle.
Renae Gillmore led the Bearcats at the plate with 2 hits on 3 plate appearances.
The Bearcats will be back in action tomorrow on a road trip to Indianapolis for a doubleheader.
