Kirksville, Mo. – The Bearcats dropped the first game of the series to Truman State 10-8 in 11 innings. This makes the Bearcats record 11-14 (7-13 GLVC) on the season.
Truman State jumped out to an early lead in the 3
rd inning with 5 runs to make it 5-1. The Bearcats bats would come alive in the 5
th and 6
th innings to make it 8-3 going to the top of the 7
th inning. The Bearcats had two quick outs in the 7
th and then got two runners on and were driven in by a single up the middle from
Eli Smock.
Colby Sneed drove in two more on a single to right field to shrink the lead down to 1. Sneed later scored on a passed ball to tie the game up that would eventually send it to extra innings.
Jackson Soule led the Bearcats with 3 hits along with
Colby Sneed,
Rhys Cratty, and
Eli Smock having 2 hits. Sneed and Smock also contributed 3 RBIs in the cause.
Drew Wagner came on in relief to pitch 5 full innings and only allowing 4 hits and striking out 6.
The Bearcats will have a doubleheader tomorrow with the first game starting at 12:00 and the second starting just after.
