Bolivar, Mo. – Southwest Baptist got back on the winning path with a late scheduled non-conference game against Ecclesia College that ended in a 10-4 SBU victory. This win gives the Bearcats an 11-13 (7-12 GLVC) for the season.
The Bearcats exploded out of the gate when
Colby Sneed scored on a wild pitch and
Blake Lutgen drove home
Rhys Cratty and
Sam Avila in the first inning to make it 3-0. Southwest Baptist added more in the second inning highlighted by a double from
Rhys Cratty that drove in 2 runs followed up by a single from
Jackson Soule that scored another to make it 7-0 through 2 innings. Ecclesia would score 4 runs in the remaining innings and the Bearcats would add 3 more runs to pull away for the win.
Rhys Cratty and
Jackson Soule each had 3 hits in the contest along with Soule leading the team with 3 RBIs.
Corbin Reese and
Matt Eleiott combined to pitch the full 9 innings and only allowing 6 hits and striking out 6.
Southwest Baptist will be back in action this weekend when they travel to struggling Truman State for a 4 game series.
