Bolivar, Mo. – Southwest Baptist dropped the final two games of the series with Quincy in a close 5-4 loss in the first game and a 23-5 loss in the second game. This makes the Bearcats record 10-13 (7-12 GLVC) for the season.
Game One
The Bearcats got started good in the first inning with a quick run and added another in the second inning when
Zack Ehlen hit a triple that drove in
Hayden Crabtree. The Hawks would retake the lead in the 6
th after a couple of errors by the Bearcats, but
Jackson Soule would tie it back up when he doubled home
Rhys Cratty.
Zack Ehlen helped to extend the game to extra innings when he hit a leadoff home run in the bottom of the 7
th inning but couldn't pull out the win after 10 innings.
Zack Ehlen and
Jackson Soule each had 2 hits with Ehlen driving in 2 runs and hitting a long ball.
Ryan Carmack threw a gem in his 5.2 innings with only allowing 1 earned run while striking out 12 Hawks batters.
Game Two
The second game of the day started hot with 3 runs in the top of the first inning.
Zack Ehlen got the Bearcats started in the bottom half of the first when he walked and stole second and was driven in when
Josh Scott hit a no doubter to center field for his 2
nd home run of the season.
Sam Avila drove in a run in the 3
rd inning and
Brooks Espy pinch hit in the 4
th inning and stole second and third which set up him scoring on a wild pitch.
Rhys Cratty hit his 3
rd homer of the season in the 5
th inning for all the offense the Bearcats could muster.
Sam Avila and
Rhys Cratty each had two hits to lead SBU.
Josh Scott led the team in RBIs with 2 in the 23-5 loss.
Southwest Baptist will travel to Truman State April 16-18 for a four game series.
