Liberty, Mo. – The SBU Women's Tennis team picked up their fifth straight win Saturday morning, completing the 7-0 sweep of William Jewell. That sweep is their second 7-0 sweep in three games. On the year, SBU has a 13-5 (3-0 GLVC West Division) record with three regular season matches left on the schedule.
The Cardinals didn't have enough to play court 3 of doubles play, giving SBU a leg up.
Constanca Crespo and
Catarina Zheng didn't surrender a single game on court 1, helping claim the doubles point for the Bearcats.
Diana Cabrera and
Lola Cincunegui followed with a 6-3 win on court 2.
Similar to doubles play, William Jewell didn't have players on courts 5 or 6, giving SBU a 3-0 lead before any singles matches began. As a result,
Elsa Pascual and
Emma Davis picked up wins.
Constanca Crespo and
Catarina Zheng dominated their opponents, both finishing with 6-0, 6-0 scores on courts 2 and 3 respectively. Dropping just 1 game in two sets was
Diana Cabrera on court 1, and wrapping up the match was
Lola Cincunegui who defeated her opponent 6-2, 6-1 on court 4.
Saturday marked the final road game for the regular season, as the Bearcats return home to host Missouri-St. Louis on Friday, April 16. That match is set to begin at 2:00 PM.
