Emporia, Kan. - The SBU Softball team got in the win column Sunday after defeating the Minnesota State Moorhead 10-4 in the final game of the 5-State Classic. Earlier in the day, the Bearcats fell to Concordia St. Paul, bringing their record to 1-9 on the year.

Game One
CSP plated a couple of runs in the first, but SBU struck right back. Emma Ezzell walked to lead off the second, followed by Kaitlyn Bagby who reached on a fielder's choice. With two outs in the inning, Rylee Lunn doubled to left, scoring both Ezzell and Bagby to even the score. After falling behind 6-2, the Bearcats cut away at the deficit in the 3rd on a Nicole Horstman single that drove in two runs. Concordia St. Paul went on to score 7 more runs, ending the game after 5 innings with a score of 13-4.

Game Two
Facing the Dragons of Minnesota State Moorhead, SBU got on the board first and in a big way. With two runners on, Kaitlyn Bagby blasted a three-run shot to left to put SBU up 3-0. The Dragons plated a run in the 1st, but Rylee Lunn continued her solid day at the plate with another two-run single. She later came around to score on a ground ball, pushing SBU's lead to 6-1 after 2 innings. Katlynn McConville helped put another run on the board in the 3rd, driving in Morgan McMullin. Later in the inning, Abby Henson crossed the plate to go ahead 8-1. MSUM homered in the 4th to cut the deficit to 8-4, but Nicole Horstman and Morgan McMullin drove in a pair to seal the 10-4 victory over the Dragons.

Rylee Lunn, Nicole Horstman, Kaitlyn Bagby, and Abby Henson all had 2 hits in the game. Hallie Henderson pitched the complete 7.0 innings, picking up her first win as a Bearcat.

The team begins conference play on Friday, March 12, traveling to Rockhurst to take on the Hawks in a double-header.
