Bolivar, Mo. – Southwest Baptist faced off against a very good Southeastern Oklahoma State team for a midweek non-conference battle. The Bearcats had the bats going but dropped both games in close battles, 8-5 and 7-3. This makes the Bearcats record 2-15 (1-5 GLVC) for the season.
Game One
SBU got out to an early lead in the bottom of the first when
Nicole Horstman hit a two-run home run to left field. The Savage Storm took back the lead in the next half inning. Southwest Baptist responded with RBI doubles from both
Morgan McMullin and
Katlynn McConville on back-to-back at-bats.
Katlynn McConville would hit a home run in the bottom of the fifth as well.
Katlynn McConville,
Nicole Horstman, and
Abby Henson all finished with two hits and Horstman and McConville each had 2 RBI's as well.
Game Two
Emma Wood drew the start for the Bearcats and pitched 6 innings with only giving up 2 runs. Southwest Baptist drew back even in the 5
th inning with
Alyssa Reed hit a two-run homer to center field. SEOSU regained the lead in the 6
th on a home run.
Izzy Harrison reached base in the 6
th and stole second and preceded to round the bases on a couple throwing errors from the Storm.
Rylee Lunn led the Bearcats with 2 hits on 4 plate appearances and
Alyssa Reed led the team with 2 RBI's.
Southwest Baptist will be back in action on March 27 when they travel to Maryville University.
